Pleasant shopping and entertainment
centre, with quite a distinguished past. Originally on the old
pilgrim and coaching routes to and from London.
Much of the town's character is post-war. Brentwood Cathedral
on Ingrave Road was built in 1991 but also includes the oiginal
Victorian church that stood on the same spot. Thorndon
Country Park is a former Royal deer park which features a wildlife
exhibition, fishing and gift shop. Brentwood Museum at Cemetery
Lode in Lorne Road is a small cottage museum featuring local
and social history of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.
Set in an attractive disued cemetry, itself of unique interest.
Open frist Sunday of every month from 2.30-4.30pm and throughout
the summer.
The Brentwood Centre is one of the top entertainment centres
in the UK with regular concerts and shows and bands as well
as being home to a swimming pool and health and sports centre. |
