| Wow!
What a fantastic night! The atmosphere was tremendous. The
house and its grounds, the performance stand, the London
Gala Orchestra and conductor Stephen Bell and the two choirs,
Beccles Choral Society and Pakefield Singers - all had a
ball!
Like the Last Night of the Proms in the BBC Prom Season
our Last Night started with something different. We started
as we meant to go on with our second performance of Orff’s
Carmina Burana in 15 months. While our earlier performance
at Snape Maltings was with 2 pianos and percussion, as originally
written by Carl Orff, this time we had a full orchestra
accompanying us. We really enjoyed ourselves with this,
and I gather that it went down pretty well with everyone
else!
The second half followed time honoured traditions of well
loved orchestral pieces and Patriotic Songs, with Rule Britannia,
Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory hitting all the right
spots as the end of our biggest concert so far in terms
of the size of the crowd. |
