Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th November
The Dedham Vale/Gallery Violet Commission: To mark the 40th anniversary this year of the designation of the Dedham Vale as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Gallery Violet has commissioned its artists to specifically engage with the Dedham Vale and wider Stour Valley to produce a unique series of works.
Gallery Violet Artists will create pieces inspired and defined by the pastoral and breathtaking beauty of the Dedham Vale. This series of commissions will reflect the thrill contemporary artists feel in response to the Dedham Vale’s Sublime Landscapes and create a firm connection between the Dedham Vale AONB and the artists following in the footsteps of that legendary Dedham Vale artist, John Constable (1776 – 1837).
The protection of natural beauty in the East of England is close to so many artists’ hearts. Gallery Violet artists are keen to support the vision of the AONB. Many of Britain’s most beautiful places are protected and enhanced through the AONB network, which aims to ensure that future generations can also enjoy and benefit from these special landscapes and their associated wildlife.
The entire series of works will be unveiled at Gallery Violet’s next Pop-Up Exhibition on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th November 2010, with a Private View evening on Friday 12th November at 7pm.
The three 'Dedham Vale/Gallery Violet Commission' works which have been picked by judges to best reflect the essence of the area will be awarded a £300 prize in art supply vouchers from Tindalls, with £150 to each of two runners up.
