WILDLIFE INDEX Bungay Guide
The trust is at Earsham, near Bungay in Suffolk. Look out for signposts off the A143 Diss-Lowestoft Road, about two miles west of Bungay
The Otter Trust has it's headquarters at Earsham, just outside of Bungay, Suffolk. The trust has the distinction of being the largest and oldest otter conservation organisation in the world.

At Earsham you could see a mix of Asian and British otters.

There are three lakes at Earsham which play home to a selection of European waterfowl. The flock of free-flying Barnacle Geese is probably the largest in the country and now numbers over 200 birds. The resident birds on the Trust's marshes are joined by masses of wild waterfowl each summer and numbers swell even more in winter with visiting migrants.

Other wildlife at the Trust include Muntjac deer, Fallow deer and free-roaming wallabies.

The Otter Trust is a registered charity, founded by Philip and Jeanne Wayre in 1971. It's aims are to encourage the conservation of otters throughout the world, but with particular emphasis on the British Otter. The Trust has bred and released over 120 otters into the wild. This has saved the otter from extinction in lowland England.

Please note.... the Otter Trust is now closed to the public and no otters are now kept on the site. The breeding program has been a success and so the need for that side of the Trust's work is complete. The trust continues now merely to ensure te protection of the species.
