Biking along Suffolk Coast

The RSPB is teaming up with Bike Events to bring a charity bike ride to the Suffolk coast.

The Suffolk Coast Bike Ride couldn’t be a better way of taking in the outstanding scenery in the area, and you’ll burn off calories and help save nature too!

This event takes place on Sunday 5 August and is a great opportunity to raise sponsorship directly for the stunning landscape of the Suffolk countryside.

Starting and finishing at the elegant Glemham Hall, the ride will take you past heathland blooming with purple heather, through country lanes teeming with wildlife, ancient woodland and a breathtaking coastline.

Gena Correale-Wardle, Community Fundraising Officer for the RSPB said: “If you’ve never experienced the beauty of Suffolk during the summer, this is the perfect excuse to visit the area and see why your fundraising efforts are so important.

“There are short and long routes that pass through Minsmere nature reserve (one 35 miles, the other 60) so you have a choice of which one suits you. And if you want to make a weekend of it, come and visit the new Wild Zone at Minsmere and the newly extended cafe!”

Adult entry is £17, children £8. Team entry (six or more) is £16 per person. This fee covers only the cost of the ride – so the RSPB is encouraging everyone to raise as much sponsorship as possible to help their work protecting the fragile landscape and wildlife that makes the Suffolk coast such a special place.

Gena continued: “We would be thrilled if people could raise sponsorship money for such a special place. There’s no minimum amount but the more generous your sponsors are, the more you can support our important work.”

If you can’t participate yourself, there will still be something for you to enjoy! Throughout the day at Glemham Hall there will be special activities to entertain families and friends who are there to support the race.

There will also be live music and an Adnams beer tent for thirsty riders and spectators!

For more details, including how to book your place and the full route visit the bike events website or contact Gena Correale-Wardle, Community Fundraising Officer for Eastern England.
