2012 is set to be an exciting year for Wingfield Barns, with a number of high quality acts set to appear at the venue as part of our new folk and acoustic season.

Wingfield Barns is a music and arts centre located in rural Suffolk, near Eye. It is a Community Interest Company run by a board of volunteers directors.

Sam Carter is a quality musician who is set to be a big name within the folk scene, and we are delighted he is opening the season with this exclusive free show on Friday February 17th.

Since winning Best Newcomer at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2010, midlands-born singer, guitarist and songwriter Sam Carter has been more in demand than ever. From performances at the Royal Festival Hall for Richard Thompson’s Meltdown, to sharing the stage with the great Nic Jones alongside Chris Wood, Martin Simpson and Jon Boden at Sidmouth Folk Week, Sam continues to impress audiences and fellow artists alike. Sam also recently took part in a guitar masterclass as part of the BBC Introducing Musicians’ Masterclass series with Jo Whiley.

Sam is an independent artist and has two releases to date, both self-released under ‘Captain Records’ – Here In The Ground EP (2008) and Keepsakes (2009), which have both received critical acclaim.”

Sam Carter is the Opening Concert at Wingfield and admission is FREE. Friday 17th February, doors open 6.30pm, concert starts 7.30pm – limited availability call now to reserve your ticket.
